The Windsor Framework Democratic Scrutiny Committee examines new and amended EU laws that will apply to Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework, the post-Brexit arrangement governing Northern Ireland’s trading relationship with the EU single market for goods.
Where the committee and 30 or more MLAs from at least two parties object to a new EU law on the relevant list, they can trigger the “Stormont Brake” — a mechanism that lets the Assembly ask the UK Government to stop that law applying in Northern Ireland, subject to UK Government agreement.
Who sits on it
The committee is chaired by Ciara Ferguson (Sinn Féin), with David Brooks (Democratic Unionist Party) as deputy chair. See the full ten-member roster on the committee’s page.
Data sources
Membership and chair data are drawn from the NI Assembly’s official committee records, kept up to date by the weekly Assembly sync.
