Ad hoc committees are formed for a single purpose: to carry out Committee Stage scrutiny of one private member’s bill, where no existing statutory or standing committee is the natural fit. They dissolve once that scrutiny work concludes. This one was set up to scrutinise the School Uniforms (Trousers) Bill.
Unlike a statutory committee, an ad hoc committee has no ongoing departmental remit — its membership and work are tied entirely to the bill that created it.
Who sits on it
The committee is chaired by Aoife Finnegan (Sinn Féin), with Pam Cameron (Democratic Unionist Party) as deputy chair. See the full roster on the committee’s page.
Its bill
The committee is currently scrutinising the School Uniforms (Trousers) Bill, at Committee Stage.
Data sources
Membership, chair and bill-stage data are drawn from the NI Assembly’s official committee and legislation records, kept up to date by the weekly Assembly sync.
